LifelongFriend

OnNovember28,1890,Engels’70thbirthday,partyorganizationsandfriendsfromallovertheworldexpressedtheirwishtowishhimabirthday.ButEngelspolitelydeclinedthiskindness.HebelievedthatallthehonorshouldbeattributedtoMarx,andhecouldn'tbeartoomuchpraise.Later,attherepeatedrequestsoftheGermanSocialDemocratBebelandothers,Engelsreluctantlyagreedtoholdaprivatebanquetathome.
