Historicaldevelopment

ENIAC,bornin1946,canonlyperform300variousoperationsor5000additionspersecond,andisaveritablecomputingmachine.Aftermorethan50years,thelevelofcomputertechnologyhasundergonerapidchanges,andthecalculationspeedhasbecomefasterandfaster.Thecalculationspersecondhaveexceededbillionsandtrillions.In2002,NECCorporationbuiltan"EarthSimulator"fortheJapanEarthSimulationCenter,whichcanperformnearly36trillionfloating-pointoperationspersecond.Tenyearslater,onJune18,2012,theInternationalSupercomputerOrganizationannouncedthelatestlistoftheworld'stop500supercomputers,andtheUSsupercomputer(supercomputer"Sequoia")regainedtheworld'sfirstplace.The"Sequoia"continuouscomputingtestreached16,324trillionoperationspersecond,anditspeakcomputingspeedwasashighas20132trillionoperationspersecond,whichisbeyondthereachofothercomputers.

"Calculationspeed"isanimportantindicatorforevaluatingcomputerperformance,anditsunitshouldbehowmanyinstructionsareexecutedpersecond.Theexecutiontimeofvariousinstructionsinacomputerisdifferent,andthefrequencyofuseofvariousinstructionsisalsodifferent.Thecomputingspeedofacomputerisrelatedtomanyfactors,andtherearedifferentwaystomeasurethecomputingspeed.

Inordertoaccuratelydescribethecomputingspeedofacomputer,the"equivalentcommandspeeddescriptionmethod"isgenerallyused.Accordingtothefrequencyofoccurrenceofdifferenttypesofinstructionsintheuseprocess,multiplydifferentcoefficientstoobtainthestatisticalaveragevalue.Atthistime,thecomputingspeedreferredtoistheaveragecomputingspeed.

OverviewofChina

OnJune17,2013,theinternationalTOP500organizationannouncedthelatestlistoftheworld’stop500supercomputers,the"TianheII"developedbytheNationalUniversityofDefenseTechnologyofChinaWithafloatingpointcalculationspeedof33.86petaflopspersecond,ithasbecometheworld'sfastestsupercomputer.Aftertwoandahalfyears,China'ssupercomputercomputingspeedhasreturnedtothetopoftheworld.
